Two non-traditional women students at Delaware County Community College were awarded scholarships sponsored by the AAUW Valley Forge Branch.
One, pictured (right), is pursuing a career in Early Childhood Education. “I would love to teach birth to 4th grade and with the right education that can become possible.” In the meantime she is applying what she is learning to the raising of her own two daughters. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her thanks to us is extremely gratifying.
Our second recipient is a paralegal major, who is eagerly anticipating the time when “I can look back and think, wow, look what I overcame.” She commented, “I don’t think we ever expect these crazy turns in the road of life--------but it’s how we manage to navigate our way through them that ultimately defines us.”
We all are enriched by the determination of these women to overcome obstacles and to provide a good home for their children by self-improvement.

Much of the work we do at AAUW is designed toassist young women in their educational and career goals. Through our annual book sale, we have been able to provide financial assistance to a number of young women on both the national and local levels.
