John Mangan, Dean of Students Will speak about "The Curtis Institute of Music"
and
Ze Yu Li, Chinese violinist, Curtis student
will play classical music for us
Join us for a Four Course Dinner And Installation of New Officers at Yangming, in Bryn Mawr PA.
The Curtis Institute of Music is unique in that all students attend without paying any tuition. Dr. John R. Mangan is Vice President and Dean of Students at Curtis. John has a remarkable set of achievements that include administrative and teaching posts at Yale University. He holds a Ph.D. in history and education from Columbia University and now does research in the history of conservatories, music curricula in higher education, and the history of performance studies. While at Yale, John was the music critic for the daily New Haven Register, writing both classical music and theatre reviews. In addition, John is a classical guitarist with extensive performing experience.
Ze Yu Li, nicknamed “Victor”, a very talented violinist, will play some classical music. Victor entered Curtis Institute of Music in the fall of 2010 at the age of 13. He started studying the violin at age 4 and also enjoys playing the piano. When he was 13, Victor received first prize at the 2009 China National Competition in Qingdao. Prior to entering Curtis, he attended the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s middle school.
